It all began in the 1930's, when there was a short supply of figs for jam making. James Chapman set up a pulping plant which was operational until 1930. In 1940, Harold Chapman began working in the processing plant after school to help his dad because of local labour shortages; processing figs, apricots, plums, peaches and quinces.

The POP'S Tomato Sauce business began in 1966, when James, Harold and Stephen Chapman commenced trading as HJ Chapman & Son with the idea of turning our skills with fruit to tomatoes, and to try our hand at making a tomato sauce that was like no other. Still today, it is a family owned and operated business with now Stephen and son Matthew continuing the tradition of making the famous POP'S sauce.
